With over 25 years of experience in the financial planning industry, we have extensive knowledge in making challenging day to day money decisions, managing debt, investing, taxes, insurance, estate planning, and dealing with retirement transitions.

Tara Unverzagt

Founder & Chief Advisor

South Bay Financial Partners was founded by Tara Unverzagt, who first explored financial planning as a kid growing up with a mom who became a financial planner in the 1970s, before the career even existed.  She knew that one day, she would want to help people who dread facing, or worse who are stressed and worried, about financial decisions.

Tara has been working in financial planning, investment advice, and tax preparation for over 20 years. She specializes in multigenerational financial planning which includes raising a family, having a successful retirement, generation wealth transfer, and financial coaching for younger generations. She also specializes in financial issues for charities and charitable giving including bookkeeping and tax preparation for Pooled Income Funds. She is currently on the board of directors for several charity. Tara started her career in software programming and systems design. After ten years in the computer business, she turned her attention to the financial industry.

Tara received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Purdue University and an MBA from Pepperdine University. She has completed the NEFE College of Financial Planning Program and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and is currently working towards Certification in Financial Therapy Level I (CFT-I).

Stuart Pyne

Associate Advisor

Stuart graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a BA in Economics and is entering his fifth year in the Financial Services Industry. Stuart’s passion for helping people in an impactful way led him to Financial Planning. With the opinion that the biggest risk we all face is that we won’t be able to live the life we feel meant to live, his goal is to make sure that your finances are designed to support your goals, not take from them. In his free time, Stuart enjoys watching sports and spending time with his friends and family, cooking, and debating the best Ben and Jerry’s flavor with his girlfriend (and exercising to try and make him feel better about all of the Ben and Jerry’s that he eats – ha!). ⠀

Lora Childers 

Administrative Assistant

Lora earned degrees from Simmons University (BA) and Harvard Graduate School of Education (Ed.M.)  Formerly a corporate trainer and later the director of a university’s satellite campus, Lora volunteers at church whenever she can fit it in. Happily married for several decades, 15 of those years as a Navy spouse, she is the mother of a special needs child who is still in school. She’s a news junkie with a wide range of interests and loads of creativity; her focus has become mostly home-centered for the last decade, though she manages to fit in lots of brainiac podcasts and nonfiction Audible listening. She LOVES being a member of the SBFP teams and being part of the mission to help people live awesome lives.

Nina Reeder

Office Manager

Nina has been with the South Bay team for over two years now and ensures client satisfaction, maintains accounts, and keeps our office organized to a tee. She’s happy to be a part of the team because she enjoys helping others and learning about the financial world. In her free time, Nina enjoys running and spending time at the beach, which makes sense considering she’s from Florida, moved to California, and now is back in Florida! 

Vincent Wong

Technical Administrator

Vincent has been with the South Bay Financial Partners team for 3 years. As our tech admin and IT go-to, he ensures the company run smoothly. He enjoys working here because it’s an opportunity to help others while learning all about taxes and investing. Outside of work, Vincent enjoys competitive rock climbing and swimming at the beach.

Sadie Goodwin

Digital Marketing Specialist
After graduating from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Sadie joined the South Bay Financial Partners team in 2018 as our Digital and Social Media Marketing Specialist. Sadie manages our social media presence, creates our digital content and resources, and organizes many of our in-person and online events. She also is the Community Leader of our private online space, Your Amazing Financial Life, and is a friend and energy source to those in the group. She is a pivotal part of our team, and enjoys creating content to help inform and motivate young adults like herself to get organized and think about their financial situations.
